CAREER Pathway Program

Bellevue has an established reputation of providing a high level of care and service to the residents at Bellevue. Attracting the right people to the facility and maintaining staff stimulation is imperative to quality service delivery. In 2007 with the completion of the extensions and increased bed capacity a review of the nursing service delivery side of the business was conducted. A career pathway resulted from the review whereby two new positions were developed and renumerated by management. Nursing staff that hold a Certificate IV in Aged Care can apply for the Carer’s role and the Certificate III in Aged Care the Carer Assistant’s role.

We are also extremely proud of the six Assistant in Nursing staff who completed the Endorsed Enrolled Nursing Programme in October 2007 who were then employed as Registered staff and instrumental in the launching of our career pathway program at Bellevue. A programme that today remains the cornerstone of our workforce development. The rapid changes in the aged care landscape and the legislative requirements have also influenced the calibre of our staff. The health industry is one of the most secure industries in the world with Aged Care becoming the preferred career choice for people and Bellevue Care Centre the preferred work place of choice. We are one of the few facilities on the North side that do not use agency nurses. Continuity of Care and Evidence Based Practice are the core principles of our service delivery at Bellevue.

Bellevue Care Centre sets itself apart with its unique mix of staff. A number of staff have provided over ten years service to the facility with the second generation of family members working alongside their mother or sister.  ‘Word of mouth’ has become our primary recruitment strategy for new staff reducing the need to advertise in newspapers or on the internet. Our reputation as an Aged Care Facility is highly regarded by our local hospitals on the North side with Bellevue being the recommended facility to work for in Aged Car by the nursing staff. We highly value our relationships with our hospitals, GP’s and allied health professionals and are honoured to be considered a facility that people would most want to work for.
